WALLACE (WALLY) JOHNSON On Tuesday, April 5, 2005 Wally died peacefully at the Arborg and District Hospital at the age of 78, a long time resident of Hnausa, MB. Wally is survived by his sisters, Thorey Johnston of Edmonton and Kristin (Ken) Rutledge of Steinbach, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Laugi and Valla; sisters, Rosa, Evelyn, Eleanor and Bernice and brothers, Edward and Marvin. Wally was born on October 23, 1926 at Hnausa. He began his working career as a fisherman, first with his dad then later on his own. He farmed for a while before taking a carpentry course and eventually working for the Manitoba Government (Parks Branch) for many years. He also spent time up north with Manitoba Hydro, freighted with Sigfusson's Construction and then worked for the Ontario Government as a carpenter at several northern airports for 11 years. Wally's time spent in the north country was very special to him and he loved to tell stories of those days. He retired in 1986 and enjoyed his home at Hnausa. At his request cremation has taken place and no formal funeral service will be held. Interment will take place at the Hnausa Cemetery at a later date. The family would like to thank Dr. Doherty and staff at the Arborg Hospital and also to the Home Care staff. Special thanks to his numerous friends, especially Kristinn Gudjonson, for their kindness and support. Donations in his memory can be made to the Hnausa Cemetery, Box 716, Riverton, MB R0C 2R0.
