SAM SUCHE After a hero's journey home, Sam died peacefully on Saturday, April 23, 2005 with Lorna by his side. Sam was predeceased by his parents, Pat and Beatrice, brothers Ron and Denis and niece Linda. His brother Grant, and sister Muriel Fraser survive him. He leaves behind and will be sadly missed by Lorna, sons Kerry and Tim, daughter Colleen, and grandchildren, Daniel, Samantha, Jesse, Brennan and Kiernan. He will be fondly remembered by his brother Grant, sister Muriel Fraser, and their families, and of course, Nan, and his many, many, friends and business associates. Sam was born on February 17, 1930 in Stonewall, and grew up in the village of Argyle, the youngest of five children. He always wanted to be a salesman like his older brother Ron. He began his career at the early age of 21 and was still going strong until just a few weeks before his death. For most of this time, he was a manufacturer's agent, and was looking forward to celebrating the 50th anniversary of his own agency in June of this year. Sam was a generous person who shared so much of himself. He loved life, laughter, and friendship. He was truly a free spirit and had a remarkable ability to make things happen. He was never happier than when he was entertaining others. Some of the more memorable events were the annual Skeet Shoots and Grey Cup parties he hosted with Nan at their home in Lilyfield. He was an enthusiastic duck hunter his entire life, and waited anxiously for season opening every year. He was thrilled to teach his grandson Daniel not just to hunt, but also the finer points of preparing and cooking game birds. In Sam's books, you ate what you hunted. The family wishes to thank the many wonderful nurses and physicians in SICU and H4 at Health Sciences Centre for the care they gave him. Most of all, we are so grateful to the many people who helped Sam come home, especially Anne Motuz. It was his last request and meant so much to him. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place, and his ashes will be buried at Argyle Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Brant Argyle Cemetery Fund, Box 135, Argyle, MB R0C 0B0. The family invites friends and colleagues to join them at a tribute to Sam, to be followed, in accordance with his wishes, by a wake. on Friday, April 29 at 4:30 p.m., at the Caboto Italian Canadian Centre, 1055 Wilkes Ave. Still learning Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Sam. I had the privilege of working for Sam for a number of years, and I enjoyed working for him. His kindness and compassion made an impact in my life by being an example of how a supervisor should really treat his employees...Sam was wonderful to me. He was also a friend to my Grandmother, Eveline throughout her years at Eatons in Cosmetics and she often spoke fondly of Sam. Our loss is truely heaven's gain. He shall be missed. - Posted by: Jacqueline (Wickdahl) Popplestone (Co-Worker) on: May 03, 2005
