ALLAN June 12, 1920 - May 7, 2005 On May 7, 2005 at Victoria General Hospital, our devoted husband and father peacefully went to be with the Lord. He will forever be lovingly remembered by Marion Allan, his wife of 59 years, his children, Lyall (Lillian) Allan, Joan (Roy) Barrett, Bob (Shelley) Allan; grandchildren, Craig (Trisha), Todd (Jenn), Tannis (Quinn), Lindsay, Ashley, Andrew, Nathan, Matthew. His great-grandchildren, Payton, Keenan, and Eric will miss Great-Papa , as well his brothers-in-law, sister-in-law and his many nephews and nieces. His parents, James and Margaret, his brother Jim, and his twin granddaughters, Cheryl and Cynthia, predeceased George. George was born in Scotland and in 1920 his parents immigrated to Canada and he resided in Stephenfield, MB until he moved to Winnipeg in 1934. On September 27, 1945 George married Marion McKnight whom he continued to love and cherish until his last days here on earth. George served with the Canadian Armed Forces and later became employed with the Winnipeg Transit Company, where he worked for 46 years, as a driver, a lineman and a shop electrician, before his retirement. George was a wonderful father, a loving husband, and had great integrity and was deeply loved by his family and friends. He was a faithful church member at Calvary Temple and volunteered at both the church and Calvary Temple Youth Camps. He thoroughly enjoyed, golf, curling, fishing and their cabin at Manhattan Beach Camp. The family wished to extend our sincerest thanks to Dr. S. Permack and the nurses and staff at Victoria General Hospital. A private family funeral will be held with Pastors Bruce Logan and Scott Gillingham officiating. Pallbearers will be Brent Horrill, Reid Gillingham, Brad Harms, Cameron Coleman, Greg Clark and Dave Alder. Honorary Pallbearers are Hugh Clearwater, Gordon Alder and Marvyn Coleman. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Faith to Live By in care of Calvary Temple, 400 Hargrave St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 3A8.
