KARL GREGOR BURNDORFER September 6, 1932 - May 12, 2005 After a courageous battle with cancer, Karl passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side. Karl was born in Murau, Austria, where he eventually began his lifelong career as a painter. In 1951, he and Doris met in Harpsburg's Castle in Brugg, Switzerland, and they married in 1952. Daughter Gudrun was born in Germany. Son Karl was born in Switzerland. The family immigrated to Canada in 1956 and settled in Winnipeg, where Linda was born. All his life, Karl loved mountains. He was an avid climber in his youth, and he could name mountain ranges and peaks anywhere in the world. He was also passionate about South America. His appreciation for Spanish music inspired him to become an accomplished Classical and Flamenco guitarist. Karl was blessed with great patience, and his family and friends valued him as a teacher, as well as a loving husband, father and friend. Everyone loved his warmth and sense of humour. Karl will be forever missed by his wife of 53 years, Doris, daughter Gudrun (Craig), son Karl (Nancy) and daughter Linda. He will also be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Glenn, Anna-Marie, Heide, Celeste, Karl Jr., Daniel, Benjamin; and great-grandson Tyler. The family offers heartfelt thanks to their dear friends who helped them through this very difficult time. The family also extends deep appreciation and thanks to an outstanding palliative care team. Special thanks to Noemi, Jackie, Mariette, Nurse Patty, Kris, Sheila, Mark, Linda, Dr. Garcia and Dr. Kotecha. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Karl's memory to the Salvation Army. Karl's funeral service will be held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 65 Walnut, Winnipeg, on Wednesday, May 18 at 10:00 a.m. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
