MANUEL JOAQUIM TEIXEIRA MARQUES Manuel Joaquim Teixeira Marques (72), born May 9, 1933 in Revel, Portugal With great sadness, we announce the passing of Manuel Joaquim Teixeira Marques husband, father, uncle, great-uncle, godfather and true friend. He passed away in Toronto on June 14, 2005 after a lengthy illness. Manuel was predeceased by his parents, Jose Joaquim Marques and Maria Albertina Teixeira; brother Antonio (Alzira); and sister Ana (Manuel). He is survived by his wife Rosa Ribeiro Marques, the love of his life; two sons, Dr. Joseph Ribeiro Marques and Kelly Ribeiro Marques; his brothers, Casimiro (Ana) and Joao (Ilda); sisters, Rosalina; Constanca (Joao); and Conceicao (Julio); and countless nephews and nieces. Manuel came to Canada from Portugal, in 1957 to make a better life for his family, paving the way for four siblings to also immigrate, all eventually settling in Winnipeg to raise families. He retired from CN Rail in 1994. Everyday he lived by the principles of humility, honesty, caring and enjoying life. His subtle advise included don't wait to do the things you want to and the best thing in the world is to have a great relationship with your spouse . All our memories are of a truly happy man who knew how to have fun, as in coming home hopping, skipping and jumping when he confirmed he was going to retire and whacking golf balls into the lake at Winnipeg Beach. He spent 10 years of happy retirement with Rosa in Vila Real, Portugal. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends in Canada and Portugal. Beijinhos e um grande abraco, we will miss you and love you forever. Interment took place in Vila Real, Portugal on June 21.
