ANTONIA PUIM MONTEIRO Peacefully on July 12, 2005, Antonia Monteiro passed away with her family beside her at Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 99 years. Antonia is survived by her only widowed daughter Maria and five grandchildren, Maria (Joe), Paula (Al), Elza, Francisco and Aida. She also leaves to mourn four great-grandchildren, Nancy, Brian, Isabella and Anthony. She was predeceased by her husband Francisco Monteiro; sister Maria Monteiro; brothers, Manuel, Jose, Francisco, Antonio and Joao. Antonia was born on November 3, 1905 in Santa Maria, Acores, and came to Canada in 1966. She loved to garden and take walks in the old neighbourhood. The family wishes to thank the staff on 5W at Deer Lodge Centre for all their care and compassion, especially Steve. Prayers will be said on Thursday, July 14 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 15 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. N. with Rev. Fr. Jose Eduardo Medeiros, V.F. as celebrant. Interment to follow in Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Antonia's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
