ANTONIO (TONY) PRINCI November 26, 1930 - July 17, 2005 It is with great sadness that the family of Tony Princi announces his passing on Sunday, July 17, 2005 at the Health Sciences Centre. He was predeceased by both his parents, Caterina and Raffaele Princi; and his brother Raffaele Angelo; as well as his brother-in-law Tony Militano; father-in-law Francesco Versace; and mother-in-law Antonia Versace. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years Giuseppina (Josephine) who misses him dearly, and will forever cherish his love. He is also survived, and forever remembered, by two sisters, Lina Militano, and Angela (Saverio) Gelardi; as well as sisters-in-law, Pasqualina Princi, Teresa (Antonio) Pugliese, Giovanna (Antonio) Torquato; and brothers-in-law, Antonio (Angela) Versace, Natale (Melina) Versace, Giovanni (Domenica) Versace; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Tony was born on November 26, 1930 in Delianuova, Reggio Calabria, Italy and came to Canada in 1956 in search of a better life. He started working in construction but returned to Italy in 1959 to marry Pina, the love of his life, whom he had to leave behind until all the paperwork was completed. Upon returning to Canada he continued working in construction for most of his life, except for the time that both he and Pina spent together running a successful but time consuming grocery store. Tony led a very full and happy life. He was always ready to offer a helping hand to any one in need. For the last 25 years he enjoyed spending time at the cabin, first at Winnipeg Beach and later at St. Laurent. He was happiest when there was some construction or fixing up to do at the cabin. He did not appear happy if he did not have a hammer or saw in his hand (either at his place or some relative or friend's place). But he truly enjoyed spending time south during the winter months. He was always looking forward to spending time with Pina in the warmth of Mazatlan for four to six weeks each winter. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, July 19 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Ignatius Parish at Stafford and Corydon. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 20 at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Ignatius with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding at the Eucharist. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, 1501 Waverley St. Pallbearers will be nephews, Raffaele Princi, Carmine Militano, Carmelo Gelardi, Raffaele Gelardi, Antonino Gelardi and Saverio Torquato. The family wishes to express their thanks to Dr. Albi, as well as the staff at the Health Sciences Centre for the excellent care and support provided. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Antonio to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 1160-675 McDermot, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, or to a charity of one's choice.
