DMYTRO SEMANIUK Peacefully, with his family by his side, Dmytro Semaniuk, beloved husband, Tato (father), and Didusyk (grandfather), passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2005 at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 80 years. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Luba; daughters, Anna Kulbaba (Garry), Irka Semaniuk (Roman Korbutiak); son Roman Semaniuk (Chrystia); and grandchildren, Brian, Katya, Alexander and Andrijko. He is also survived by numerous family members in Ukraina. Tato was born August 16, 1924 in the selo (village) of Solotvyna, in the povit (district) of Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraina. Like many before him, he fled his homeland during the Second World War. While in Germany, he met and married Luba Novikova. So began the celebration of their love that was short of sixty years. Tato and Mama began family life in England. Wanting a better life, Tato, Mama and Anna left England in 1953 and settled in Winnipeg. Tato was hired by Bristol Aerospace, where he retired after 37 loyal years at the age of 65. Our Tato had a passion for working with his hands. He was a skilled machinist, as well as an ambitious and talented carpenter who never hesitated to lend a helping hand. Tato gave freely of himself and his time, whether it was for family, many friends or the community. He was well-known for his endless energy and camaraderie and will be missed by all his friends. Special memories are filled with the image of Tato with his favourite hammer in hand working on one of his countless projects. He took great pride in keeping busy with projects; the most treasured were the cottages he built at Lester Beach. It was here at Semaniuk's Selo, that he and Mama created cherished memories and many lasting friendships. Tato was often heard saying that here he felt free as a bird. Didusyk's pride and joy were his grandchildren. No matter how busy he was, he never failed to spend time with them, ask about them and their accomplishments. He loved sharing their stories and with this sharing he told them how special they were to him and how proud he was of them. Didusyk's love will be missed. Our family would like to thank Dr. Taras Babick, the staff at St. Joseph's Residence and at Seven Oaks Hospital for their wonderful care of Tato and the kindness and support shown to our family. Prayer's will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. and Divine Liturgy will follow on Wednesday, July 20 at 10:00 a.m. Both will be held at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor St. in Winnipeg. Interment All Saints Cemetery. Pallbearers will be sons-in-law, Garry Kulbaba and Roman Korbutiak; grandsons, Brian Kulbaba and Andrijko Semaniuk; and family friends, John Daughney and Morris Strembicki. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dmytro's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or the charity of your choice. VICHNAYA PAMYAT SLEEP PEACEFULLY TATO KNYSH FUNERAL CHAPEL 582-0973
