EMILY HALL DALE MURPHY (nee GRAHAM) Peacefully on Tuesday, July 19, 2005, Emily Hall Dale Murphy passed away at Lions Manor Personal Care Home. Emily was predeceased by her husband, John Murphy; parents, John and Isabella; stepson, Matt in Northern Ireland and all of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her step-children, Jackie (Nora) of Richmond, BC and family, Lilly (Billy) Clifford of Winnipeg and family, and Jean of Northern Ireland and family, and several nieces and nephews. Born November 25, 1914, in Coleraine, Northern Ireland, the youngest of 10 children, Emily came to Canada with her mother in 1926. Emily was employed in the aerospace industry until her return to Northern Ireland with her mother in 1946. They returned to Winnipeg in 1948 whereupon Emily obtained a position with the T. Eaton Company. Emily worked in the mail order until its closure. It was at Eaton's that Emily met her future husband. Emily and John were married June 3, 1972 and had 9 happy years together. After the closure of Eaton's mail-order, Emily worked as church secretary at Maryland United Church. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, the Orange Lodge and did many countless hours of volunteer work with the Manitoba Lung Association and the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fred Douglas Heritage House, 100 The Promenade, Winnipeg, MB R3B 3H9 or a charity of one's choice. A memorial service will be held at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway at Sherbrook St, on Thursday, July 28 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Ken Innes officiating. Interment will follow in St. Vital Cemetery. Many thanks to the staff at Fred Douglas Heritage House and Lion's Manor Personal Care Home for their care of Emily during her time at these locations.
