Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERONIKA (VERA) ZAWADSKAS September 15, 1913 - August 19, 2005 Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at Kildonan Personal Care Centre. Vera is survived by her daughter Grazina (Edmund) Varnelis; granddaughters, Zita (Maris) Kampe, Audra (Shawn) Murdoch and Lora Varnelis; great-granddaughter Katarina Kampe; great-grandson Ryan Murdoch; nieces and nephews in Lithuania. She was predeceased by her husband Mamertas (Moe) on January 20, 1978; her parents, Petras and Barbora Remeika; brother Aleksas and sister Jadze. Vera was married in Lithuania on July 24, 1937. Vera and Moe made their home in Winnipeg where he had established himself 10 years previously. She was a dear and loving friend to many and always remembered to greet them on birthdays and special occasions. Vera was an excellent cook and in her earlier years enjoyed entertaining on a regular basis. She was an extraordinary seamstress and enjoyed knitting, making over 100 afghans for friends and relatives. She was a life-long member of the Lithuanian Club and of St. Casmir's Lithuanian Church. Vera worked many years as a seamstress for Jacob and Crowley, retiring at the age of 65. Many thanks to Victoria Daubaras, Elena and daughter Danguole Januska for their loving care over a long period of time. Also thanks to those who visited Vera at the nursing home especially Victoria, Virginia Ozuk, Vic and Ann Lion. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Kildonan Personal Care Home for their care and compassion. Prayers will be said on Monday, August 22 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 23 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church (Chapel side), 341 Selkirk Avenue with an Oblate Father as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Vera's memory to the Lithuanian Orphan Care, 2711 West 71st Street, Chicago, IL 60629, USA. Phone 773-476-2655 or to a charity of your choice.
