Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBORDEN KARAN February 10, 1926 - August 14, 2005 It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear father, in his sleep at his son's home, in Surrey, BC. Borden was predeceased by his wife of 31 years, Millie in October 19, 1980, whom he loved so dearly and cherished to the end. Left to cherish his memory is his son Greg (Sandi); daughter Jocelyn; brother Edward (Nadia); grandchildren, Sean (Isabel), Heather (Sean); great-grandchildren, Paige and Macarthur; in-laws and friends. Borden was born in Winnipeg and spent his early years in the north end. He was in the Royal Canadian Army of Engineers from 1943-45. On February 7, 1948 he started work at C.P.R. and later became a Carman. He made many friends there. Work wasn't work for Borden at times, he and his mates would laugh through the hours as the day would pass, Oh, if those rails could talk! He married his wife Millie on June 4, 1949. Borden devoted many hours to his children, taking them to the drive-ins, parks and beaches. Later in life, Borden and Millie loved to take the grandchildren on the weekends. Borden would put his grandchildren to bed, lie beside them and play I spy with my little eye game until they were tired and fell asleep. In 1985, Borden moved to live with his son in Surrey. Dad loved music tremendously, he had radios everywhere. Borden and his wife would go to dances and had many parties with friends and family. There was a long time in Borden's life where you wouldn't see him without a cigar. Borden also loved the outdoors, the beach and the in-law's farm, where he would go hunting and always lend a helping hand. Dad enjoyed movies, boxing matches, and playing cards. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all who gave of themselves to help our dad throughout the course of his life during his times of need. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 27 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Borden's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
