PAULINE CAREY (nee TURCHEN) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pauline on Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at the age of 95 years. On April 23, 1910, Pauline was born in Trembowla, Poland. She immigrated to Canada with her parents, John and Mary Turchen and brother Joseph in 1925. In 1929 she married Dan Carey and they had three children, Evelyn (Terry) Hind, Olga and Dennis. Pauline loved gardening, cooking and baking - a real homemaker. She especially loved going to her cottage at Sandy Hook with her family. Her great love for animals got her started in the Kennel business. Together with her husband Dan, they built the Dan-Poll Kennels in Charleswood. She then started to show some of her dogs in championship dog shows and won numerous championships. Remaining to forever cherish Pauline's memory are her daughter Evelyn Hind (Terry) and her only grandson, Richard Topolnicki who brought her much love and affection, as well as many nieces. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Mary Turchen; husband Dan; daughter Olga; son Dennis and brother Joseph. Pauline's funeral service will be held on Monday, September 12 at 10:30 a.m., in the Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch Ave. (corner of Mount Royal Road and Ness Avenue). For those who wish, parking is available in the Seventh Day Adventist Church parking lot located on Ness Avenue. Special thanks to the staff of Tuxedo Villa on Station 3 who made Mom's stay pleasant and comfortable. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3 or to a charity of one's choice.
